Opening in 2027
Constructed in 1903 and relocated to the South Bay in 1905, “Hotel Palacios” grew up with the City of Palacios. Acquired by Charles and Elsie Luther in 1936, the hotel was extensively renovated and renamed “The Luther Hotel”, drawing travelers from far and wide to a remote stretch of beautiful Texas coast. Over the years, the hotel became the heart of the community, earning the affectionate title “Pride of Palacios” from local residents.
Now being restored as Hotel Tres Palacios, the vision is not simply to revive the hotel’s former prominence, but to surpass it—transforming the Grand Dame of the Gulf into a heritage destination unlike any other along the Texas coastline. The name itself reaches deep into the region’s past, echoing the town’s original name, the river that borders it, and the bay that defines it, while honoring early Texas leader José Félix Trespalacios. With this renewal comes a guiding idea: to create what will truly be a “Palace on the Bay.”
Thoughtfully restored as a refined alternative to today’s overbuilt coastal resorts, Tres Palacios offers something increasingly rare—authenticity, character, and a genuine sense of place. Grounded in history and guided by a family-led vision, the hotel respects its legacy while reimagining hospitality for a new century. Preserving the spirit of the past is not simply part of the project—it is its foundation.
